McKinley Park History
Though out Chicago's history, McKinley Park was a major working class area in 1836 because of its major population and immigration that came to its districts. During that period, 11 factory's opened, producing iron and simultaneously among other jobs such as the meat packing business was blooming also. These series of events led up to the creation of the major factory's within the neighborhood. These factory's produced meat and usually disposed large amounts of garbage. In order to mass produce meat, the neighborhood sacrificed a lot of its health issues for a more factory occupied neighborhood. Before the neighborhood received its official name after president McKinley, a common nick name would be "Duck town."
Chicago's connection to McKinley Park
In 1901, a month away from presidents McKinley assassination, the government decided to develop a program to start the creation of new parks in Chicago. Chicago's parks where really not well maintained and put in poorly spots around the city due to overcrowded neighborhoods. This idea was a huge success and led up to the development of other great parks in areas that areas that had been overcrowded and heavily pollution. McKinley Park was so successful as a park as it inspired other parks such as Sherman, Ogden, Palmer, Bessemer, and Hamilton Parks, and Mark White, Russell, Davis, Armour, and Cornell Squares. Sherman, Ogden, Palmer, Bessemer, and Hamilton Parks, and Mark White, Russell, Davis, Armour, and Cornell Squares. McKinley Park is still known as one of the strong working districts but overall this development led McKinley parks reputation to develop more than meat manufacturing or steel mill work place in the year 2000s-now.

In the 1800s,majority of immigrants that came to America where European American who came for the
pull factors that the united states had. In that process the city of Chicago became flooded
with distribution of European immigrants, Polish ,Irish ,Jewish ,Lithuanian ,Germans ,Italians . By 1900s most of Chicago where Irish, German and Polish, drawn by the jobs at local factories or the Union Stock Yards. During the 1870s, as more migrants poured in, meat packing became a major source of mass production and the neighborhoods factory's also produced rail road tracks as a major source of its income. Many immigrants that worked in the meat factory's describing it as "A hellish mass of decomposing material." After the immigration quotas where passed, there was less immigration of European citizens but more Hispanics which are the most recent ethnicity group to join the community, Hispanic Americans and assimilated Hispanics Americans. They are 25% of the people In McKinley Park and mostly play a bigger roles in the 20th century. They bring their customs and their way of life has become a major role in the Americas as Popular culture and their roles In job occupation. There are many taco stores and Hispanic grocery stores that prove beneficial to most people in the community.
Land and site factors
McKinley park was founded in a swampy area with in Chicago. The area was consisted of large masses of water and plenty of wildlife. A few problems that occurred with the large amount of swampy land was that it was a common place for people to throw away garbage. Large amounts of unclean material would pollute the health of the lake. Standing water bred hordes of mosquitoes and spring flooding was so severe that many houses were built on stilts. Due to these unpleasant conditions people ignored "bubble" creek for a long time until the park was considered. Later on when they decided to urban renewal the swamp into the park there was so much flesh and decay in the swamp, they had to fill both the creek and Brighton park's horse track.
Reasons people moved to this particular neighborhood
People moved to McKinley park due to its factories in the 1870s because meat packing and steel mills were a source of income. While
in the 1990s, steel mills where replaced with central manufacturing company's such as Wrigley company and Pepsi-coca cola. In the 21st century people moved to McKinley park because it is affordable and it is convenient. Though this back fired in the 1880s because the meat factories polluted the area promoting more out in migration and push factors for people to leave and more uburbanization happened because more people moved to the suburbs since it was more clean. After the 1880s-the 1990s Workers commutes became easier with the development of extension car lines on Archer Avenue and on 35th Street thus increasing the threshold of work.
